About

The Technion Research and Development Foundation Ltd. (TRDF) is a subsidiary of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Established in 1952, it serves as a bridge between the scientific and technological knowledge accumulated at the Technion and knowledge-rich industries globally. TRDF manages research activities, including intellectual property, agreements with funding agencies and industry, and licensing. It is also the technology transfer office for the Technion, responsible for commercializing technologies and patents originating from the institution, and fostering innovation and commercialization. TRDF forms new companies from faculty inventions and takes initial equity positions, often negotiating first-refusal rights alongside early-stage Israeli VCs.
