Sir Ronald Cohen was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1945 and later moved to the UK, where he built a remarkable career in venture capital and impact investing. He is a graduate of Oxford University, where he served as President of the Oxford Union, and later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, awarded through the prestigious Henry Fellowship.
Sir Ronald serves as the President of the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG), The Portland Trust, and the International Foundation for Valuing Impacts (IFVI). He co-founded and chaired organizations like Bridges Fund Management, Big Society Capital, and Impact-Weighted Accounts at Harvard Business School. Sir Ronald is also a co-founder and director of Social Finance in the UK, USA, and Israel.
For nearly two decades, Sir Ronald has been at the forefront of global efforts to direct private capital toward social and environmental good, helping to shape the Impact Revolution. His leadership roles include chairing the Social Impact Investment Taskforce under the UK’s presidency of the G8 and the UK’s Social Investment Task Force. In 2012, he received the Rockefeller Foundation’s Innovation Award for his work in social finance.
He is also the author of IMPACT: Reshaping Capitalism to Drive Real Change and The Second Bounce of the Ball.
