Dr. Shmuel Harlap is an Israeli Businessman and the Chairman of Colmobil, an Importer and Distributor of Mercedes Benz, Smart, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and King Long Vehicles. The Colmobil Group imports private and commercial vehicles, as well as trucks and buses to Israel. He has invested $10,000 in automotive tech startup Mobileye in 2001 and eventually acquired a 7.2% stake. In 2017, Intel purchased Mobileye for $15.3 billion in cash. Harlap netted $750 million from the deal, pushing him into Israel's billionaire ranks. He is also investing in Israeli startups, particularly in the cybersecurity, nanotechnology, and life sciences industries. Dr. Harlap is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (B.A. and M.A in Political Philosophy) and has obtained his Ph.D. (in Political Philosophy) from Harvard University in 1975.
