Dr. Shimon Eckhouse is an Israeli inventor, investor, and active entrepreneur in the medical device and medical technology sectors. He is recognized as the inventor of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. He founded and co-founded numerous companies, including ESC Medical Systems (now Lumenis) and Syneron Medical (now Syneron Candela), both of which were publicly traded on NASDAQ and later acquired. He is currently the founder, owner, and chairman of Alon Medtech Ventures, an Israeli incubator that invests in early-stage healthcare technology startups. Dr. Eckhouse holds over 60 US-registered patents and hundreds of international patents, and has published more than 50 papers in leading refereed journals and conferences. He also serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the Technion Israeli Institute of Technology.
