Roni Michaely is an Israeli academic specializing in Economics and Finance. He was born in Israel and studied Economics at Tel Aviv University. He obtained his PhD from New York University. He is a professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at the University of Hong Kong, and previously held positions at Cornell University and the University of Geneva. Michaely's research interests include empirical corporate finance, corporate governance, entrepreneurial finance, and FinTech. He has been recognized as one of the most prolific and cited researchers in finance. He was a director of the Israeli Securities Authority (ISA) from 1998 to 2003. He is a co-founder of two startups and serves on the board and advisory board of several others, including Israeli startups like TipRanks, GinaLife, Mogul, Hyro, Nevia bio, Viridian Analytics, and VirtuSwap. He also leads the HKU Tel-Aviv Innovation Hub, fostering connections between Israel and Hong Kong's tech ecosystems.
