About

The Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund is a $1 billion investment initiative launched in 2020 to accelerate the development and deployment of new climate innovations through equity and debt capital. The fund's investments focus on underfunded markets and emphasize ensuring equitable access to these technologies, particularly in developing economies.

While the fund has a global scope and has invested in numerous companies outside of Israel, it announced an expansion to Israel in August 2022, partnering with the Israeli Research & Development center CTO office to recruit Israeli climate-tech startups. However, as of January 2025, a Calcalist investigation revealed that despite this announcement and Israeli startups submitting investment requests, the fund had not made a single investment in any Israeli company.
