Since its founding in 1969, it has invested in more than 500 companies resulting in 120 IPOs and more than 200 mergers or acquisitions. Mayfield primarily invests at the inception stage of companies at Seed and Series A, with selective investments in companies at Series B and beyond. The firm prefers to invest in Enterprise companies (from analytics to machine learning, big data to cloud/SaaS, mobile to software-defined infrastructure, containers to cybersecurity) and Consumer-oriented companies (from autonomous transport to AI, community commerce to marketplaces, digital health to fintech, and emerging new messaging and entertainment platforms like chat and AR/VR). Mayfield has raised 20 funds.
