About
Joshua S. Boger is an organic chemist and the founder of Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated. He is recognized as a pioneer in structure-based rational drug design. Boger served as Vertex's CEO from 1992 to 2009 and as Chairman of the Board from 1997 to 2006. He also became the executive chairman of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals in 2012 and rejoined in 2023. He holds a BA in Chemistry and Philosophy from Wesleyan University and MA and PhD degrees in Chemistry from Harvard University. Boger has authored over 50 scientific publications and holds 32 issued U.S. patents in pharmaceutical discovery and development.
