GITA is a not-for-profit Section 25 public-private partnership company jointly promoted by the Confederation of Indian Industry, which holds a majority stake, and the Technology Development Board under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It functions as a collaborative mechanism between government and industry to stimulate investment in technology development by identifying technology gaps, evaluating global technology offerings, and enabling connections among developers, providers, commercializes, and funders. GITA manages government funding to support Indian industry-led research and development, particularly in collaboration with international partners, and administers bilateral industrial R&D programs in selected priority areas to help advance technologies toward market deployment.
