Columbia Technology Ventures (CTV) is the technology transfer office for Columbia University. Its mission is to facilitate the translation of academic research into practical applications for the benefit of society, by generating funding for the University and fostering partnerships with industry. CTV also educates and serves as a resource for the Columbia community on entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and technology commercialization. Since its founding in 1982, CTV has launched over 147 companies, with 42 being venture-backed and 27 either sold or gone public. These portfolio companies have raised over $1 billion in funding and created more than 1,500 jobs. CTV manages approximately 350 invention disclosures, 100 license deals, and 20 new IP-backed startups annually, involving over 750 inventors across Columbia's campuses.
