Cactus Capital is a student-run venture capital firm powered by Ben-Gurion University (BGU). Cactus Capital will invest up to 100,000 in early-stage start-ups founded by BGU students and recent graduates. Cactus Capital also offers a training course called Cactus Academy, designed for BGU students who want to become venture capital analysts. Students selected to join will undergo a three-month training program that will enable them to identify investment opportunities, evaluate early-stage companies, learn the basics of VC by doing, take an investment from start to finish, and more. After completing the course, students will sit on the investment board of Cactus Capital and play an active role in deciding which companies to invest in. For Cactus Capital portfolio companies, the fund offers an acceleration program called 8200Cactus. The program contains a variety of workshops for startups, guidance from leading mentors from the Israeli industry and an opportunity to pitch their idea to investors.
