The Israeli Black Soldier Fly (BSF) consortium, supported by the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA), aims to tackle climate change and food security through the fast-paced development of a BSF-based circular economy. It combines multidisciplinary research, data science, and AI technology to turn organic waste into agricultural and energy products, positioning Israel as a global leader in the BSF industry. The consortium's activities include mapping wastes as BSF feedstock, optimizing BSF rearing conditions, establishing colony maintenance practices, evaluating BSF protein and frass in various applications, and developing machine-learning tools for effective BSF rearing.
