Alain Wertheimer is a French billionaire businessman who, along with his brother Gérard, co-owns and chairs Chanel, the iconic French luxury brand. He was born in Paris, France, on September 28, 1948, into a Jewish family. His grandfather, Pierre Wertheimer, co-founded Chanel with Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in 1924. Alain Wertheimer assumed operational control of Chanel in 1974 and, with his brother, has overseen its growth into a global powerhouse. He is known for his discreet management style, preferring to stay out of the public eye. The Wertheimer family's fortune is managed by their family office, Mousse Partners. In October 2023, Alain Wertheimer, along with Chanel's CEO, announced a $4 million donation to organizations providing humanitarian aid to southern Israel, following the Hamas attacks.
