About

Smart Resilin produces Resilin, a protein known for its exceptional elasticity and resilience, at an industrial scale. Using protein engineering and bacterial fermentation, the company replicates this naturally occurring insect protein without using animal sources. The resulting material can be processed into gels, films, coatings, and 3D printing inks with mechanical properties comparable to synthetic elastomers but with full biodegradability. Smart Resilin’s approach provides a lower-impact alternative to fossil-based elastic materials and avoids microplastic generation. Potential applications include film formers for cosmetics, cushioning elements for footwear, flexible coatings, and soft materials for robotics and biomedical research.

By merging biotechnology with materials science, we are developing a versatile platform for sustainable elasticity — enabling circular, high-performance alternatives to silicones, polyurethanes, and synthetic rubbers.

With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and real-world implementation, Smart Resilin is committed to redefining how elasticity is engineered. We aim to lead a global transition toward biobased, high-performance materials — replacing plastics with nature’s own elastic design and creating a more resilient, sustainable future.
