Ocean Spectra has developed a novel approach to processing wave data for marine infrastructure design, improving on traditional methods, which assume uniform or non-existent currents. Their approach utilizes numerical transfer functions and shearing currents based on rotational wave theory, allowing their interpretation methodology to create a more accurate reconstruction of the wave directional spectrum. Simulations have shown that this approach is more successful and more accurate than other methods.
