NakedPak develops an edible, food-grade film made primarily from agar—a natural gelling agent typically derived from red algae—combined with other safe, plant-based ingredients. The film wraps and protects ready-to-cook meals, then dissolves or can be consumed during cooking, removing the need for traditional single-use plastic packaging. NakedPak’s concept treats packaging like a fruit’s peel: it safeguards the food until preparation and then disappears. This approach addresses the growing issue of packaging waste while simplifying meal preparation through a “rinse, cook, eat” process. Currently in the prototype phase, NakedPak’s technology demonstrates how edible, agar-based materials can provide a sustainable and fully compostable alternative for food manufacturers and retailers.
