InSeal Medical develops and manufactures percutaneous vascular closure devices for sealing puncture sites following treatment involving a large-bore sheath. The company's first product is the InSeal vascular closure device (VCD), which supports the closure of 14 to 21 Fr punctures in vessels of 6 to 10 millimeters in diameter. The InSeal VCD is made of a self-expandable nitinol frame covered with a biodegradable membrane. The device is delivered using the same sheath utilized for the large-bore procedure (e.g. transcatheter aortic valve replacement or endovascular aneurysm repair). The InSeal VCD is deployed across the access puncture, with the biodegradable membrane covering the puncture and using blood pressure to seal against the vessel wall. The delivery and deployment of the device is simple and takes less than two minutes to complete. InSeal Medical is a fully owned subsidiary of E-Pacing Inc. The company is backed by Polaris Venture Partners in Waltham, Massachusetts.
