InEnSto is developing an aluminumair battery technology that enables groundbreaking energy density in an extremely lightweight battery. The batteries are environmentally friendly, produced at low cost, and have a long shelf life. The companys metalair battery technology uses a Room Temperature Ionic Liquid (RTIL) and an aluminum anode. The RTIL activates the aluminum anodes surface while forming a new film to replace the pristine oxide layer. The film dramatically restricts aluminum corrosion while enabling high discharge currents. InEnSto is commercializing its technology to enable the next generation of metalair batteries with three to five times the energy density of currently available primary batteries. The companys batteries are ideal for powering a wide range of devices, including RFIDs, IoT and remote metering devices, and drone range extenders.
