ProCatid Medical is the developer of WIRION, a distal embolic protection system composed of an independent filter unit that can be delivered, locked, and deployed on any commercially marketed guide wires, according to physician preference. The unit can be placed anywhere on the wire using minimally invasive interventional procedures. The WIRION system allows the physician to use any 0.014-inch guide wire of choice throughout the entire procedure, cross challenging anatomies, and lock the filter on the same guide wire anywhere along the wire. The one-size system covers vessels ranging between 3.5 mm and 6.0 mm in diameter. Its uniform 120-micron pore filter provides continuous blood flow while maintaining embolic capture efficiency. It is currently designed for use in stenting procedures, including carotid, renal, lower limb, coronary, and SVG angioplasty. The system is CE marked and FDA cleared. ProCatid Medical is a subsidiary of Allium Medical, which develops minimally invasive solutions for treating chronic progressive diseases. In August 2019, the ProCatid Medical entered into an asset purchase agreement with Cardiovascular Systems Inc for the acquisition of certain assets and rights in relation to the WIRION system.
