FastBreak Medical is developing an innovative, disposable, non-invasive patch device for real-time detection of ischemic stroke. The patch is placed on both sides of the neck above the carotid arteries to continuously monitor blood pressure changes. When a brain artery is suddenly blocked, it creates an acute increase in blood pressure upstream in the carotid artery on the affected side, while the other side remains unchanged. This generates an asymmetry in the blood pressure patterns between the right and left carotid arteries, which is not seen in healthy individuals. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), the device analyzes asymmetries in blood pressure patterns to detect stroke events, aiming to reduce prehospital delay and improve patient outcomes.
