Flywheel Energy Inc develops rotary, portable flash-charging electrical vehicle machines. Theflywheel-based system is designed to address systems thatneed large numbers of charging and discharging cycles. The flywheel chargesduring low power cost, or when renewable energy is available, and can thenfast-charge electrical vehicles.Each machine is designed for 60 kWh energy, using three charging power options: 150 kW, 350 kW, and 500 kW. Flywheel Energy uses steel flywheels rotated at a relatively low speed, integrated with off-the-shelf bearings arranged to reduce friction, increase reliability, and provide redundancy. The bearings and the entire machine are designed to last more than 26 years without maintenance.
