Echo-Park helps drivers find vacant on-street parking, and offers municipalities data analytics which relate to the local parking and traffic. Echo-Park finds available on-street parking by listening to it; it uses the smartphone's microphone to monitor sound while driving and to pick up the echoes of the driver's own car that are being reflected off of parked cars. The company's algorithm translates these echoes to geo-located parking occupancy information which is then crowd-sourced to create a real-time map of the parking environment for the app users. Echo-Park's solution to the parking problem is low cost, highly scalable, detects practically all parking spots and requires zero driver attention.
