DreamZ is an iOS app designed to enable users to control their dreams, a sleep state known as lucid dreaming. Using the iPhones built-in motion sensors, DreamZ detects the users exact sleep phase based on body movement. During rapid eye movement (REM) sleep cycles, the human mind reacts to external stimulations such as light, sound, and touch. The app integrates these stimulants into the dreams content by playing customized audio cues as soon as the sleeper enters REM. After several dream sessions, the users mind learns to connect the specific audio cue with the dream state, greatly increasing the chances of achieving awareness inside the dream.
