Founded in 2022 in Israel, CarbonBlue provides technology to turn any water-based infrastructure into a Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) facility by removing CO2 from water, enabling it to absorb more from the atmosphere. The company's solution takes water containing dissolved atmospheric CO2 and pumps it into a reactor which extracts the CO2, mineralizing it into solid limestone. The pure, removed CO2 can then be used as an industrial feedstock or sequestered, while the low-CO2 water is returned to its source to absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere. CarbonBlue's EcoLime technology also enables decarbonization of carbon-intensive industries through its electrified, low-carbon lime production method. The company's proprietary reactor accelerates the time this process takes by three orders of magnitude when compared to conventional reactors.
