Aespira is developing a pipeline of inhaler products using generic drugs. Aespira's inhalers help prevent contamination, are simple to use by non-trained patients, and facilitate single-dose or non-chronic usage. The company has developed the ActiveMesh technology, a method of packaging dry-powder drugs within a mesh-based package. The breath-driven beating of this package causes it to sieve and release fine dry-powder particles with diameters in the respirable range. The integration of this technology provides an active dispersion mechanism to a passive inhaler. Aespira is also developing a disposable and hygienic whistle-shaped inhaler devicecalled the resQhaler, which uses the airflow though the device fromthe inhalation action of the patient to efficiently beat the ActiveMesh package. This approach ensures effective breath-synchronized drug delivery with audible confirmation.
