About
ING Barings was the investment banking arm of Barings Bank, a historic British bank founded in 1762. After Barings Bank collapsed in 1995 due to unauthorized trading, ING Group acquired its viable assets and rebranded them as ING Barings. The firm provided brokerage, securities trading, and investment services primarily to institutional and corporate clients. Today, ING Barings as a distinct entity has largely been absorbed into ING Group's broader financial services. The current entity operating under the Barings name, Barings LLC, is a global alternative investment management firm headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is a subsidiary of MassMutual Financial Group.
