Vuze Medical is the developer of VUZE, a software-only intra-operative guidance solution for skeletal surgery with a focus on the spine. VUZE targets the ongoing migration to ambulatory settings in an effort to lower healthcare costs and increase patient comfort. VUZE is also designed for populous, cost-conscious economies experiencing a rapid growth in surgical volume. VUZE serves growing market segments in which current computer-assisted surgery (CAS) is deemed less suitable. The solution offers an improvement over commonly used X-ray guidance by relieving the primary pain points of accuracy and radiation exposure. Using its proprietary dynamic online image fusion software technology, VUZE automatically and in real time overlays the positions and forward trajectories of surgical tools seen in standard in-surgery 2D X-rays onto a standard presurgery 3D scan. The only additional hardware required in the operating room is a PC for running the VUZE software. VUZE aims to maintain the simplicity, affordability, and (software-controlled) tool neutrality of current X-ray guidance while enabling greater accuracy and far fewer X-rays.
