Virdia develops cellulosic sugars and lignin for the renewable chemical, bioenergy, and nutrition industries. The companys proprietary CASE process converts a wide range of cellulosic feedstock, including wood, energy crops, and agricultural residues, into highly refined sugars and lignin. The process yields high-purity sugars and high-purity lignin suitable for numerous follow-on conversions. Virdia has a commercial plant in Raceland, Louisiana, that produces xylose from sugar cane bagasse. Virdia has been incorporated into Stora Enso Biomaterials.
