STARLIMS developed a web-based laboratory information management system used to manage and share technical data within scientific and industrial laboratories. The software is used by government agencies, life sciences labs, and manufacturing companies to automate record-keeping, data analysis, and regulatory compliance functions. It also enables lab personnel to track the history and location of physical samples. Customers include the California Department of Health Services, the Jamaican Ministry of Health, and the US Air Force. In 2010 Abbott Laboratories acquired STARLIMS for about $123 million.
