Sparkup is the developer of the Sparkup Magical Book Reader, a device that uses proprietary visual recognition technology to read books aloud with a prerecorded voice, creating a crowdsourced community of storytellers. Users can either record themselves reading aloud or download professionally recorded audio files from the company’s website directly onto the device, which holds 250 minutes of audio.
The Sparkup device can be attached to any book and instantly recognizes the front cover and each page that has already been recorded, even if the pages are turned out of order. Patent protection for the Sparkup Magical Book Reader’s technology and design is currently pending in the United States, Europe, Israel, and China.
Sparkup was the winner of the Forbes PwC 2015 Social Impact Summit.
