About

Plasma Thrusters for Nanosatellite Propulsion

SPX Space Plasmatics develops and manufactures plasma thrusters for nanosatellites

SPX's thrusters are based on a patented plasma technology that is more efficient and lightweight than traditional chemical thrusters. This makes SPX's thrusters ideal for nanosatellites, which are small and have limited power and weight budgets.

SPX's thrusters have been successfully tested in space on the RAKIA nanosatellite, which was launched to the International Space Station (ISS) in February 2022. RAKIA is the first nanosatellite to use plasma thrusters for propulsion.

SPX is currently developing a new generation of plasma thrusters that are even more efficient and lightweight. These thrusters will be used on a variety of nanosatellite missions, including Earth observation, communications, and scientific research
