Crop Protection Solutions from Endophytic Fungal Compounds
SoilFender develops crop protection solutions based on fungal volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are highly effective against numerous crop pathogens. Endophytic fungi are micro-organisms that spend most of their life cycle within plant tissues without causing any damage to the host plants. Many endophytes secrete metabolites that, in addition to assisting the fungi to survive inside the plant, confer fitness benefits to their hosts, such as growth enhancement and tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Some endophytic fungi are capable of emitting VOCs that may elevate host survival under stress conditions, actively resist plant pathogens, and aid in repelling or attracting insects. SoilFender is a fully owned subsidiary of COPIA Agro and Food Technologies Fund.
