The company was founded in 2018. It is a subsidiary of London Stock Exchange Group after a US$27 billion sale from previous owners Blackstone Group LP which held a 55% stake and Thomson Reuters which owned 45%.

The Israeli R&D center is the former Thomson Reuters local outpost that was established after acquiring the Israeli company ClearForest in 2007. The R&D center employs natural-language processing technologies to detect events in narrative text, extract entities, classify topics, and identify meaningful connections between entities.
