About

Production of Biologically Active Recombinant Proteins

Protein Laboratories Rehovot (PLR) produces biologically active recombinant proteins, mainly different cytokines and their soluble receptors, in E. coli. PRL executes the entire process and plans an optimized sequence, over-expressing it as an insoluble protein, purifying the inclusion bodies, and finally refolding it as a biologically active protein and purifying to over 98% homogeneity by ion exchange or gel filtration chromatography. The proteins are tested for purity to allow determination of biologically active active monomers or dimers under non-denaturing conditions. The company is owned by Professor Arieh Gertler, the Karl Bach Chair in Agricultural Biochemistry of the Hebrew University and Mr. Gopal Savjani from Houston, TX. PRL is licensed by the Hebrew University and Yissum.
