Automotive Cyber Security
OttoFence is developing a controller area network (CAN) bus firewall device to identify and prevent automotive cyber attacks. OttoFence's CANFence is a small hardware device that functions as a firewall written as embedded software. When a CANFence unit is installed in a new installation type, it is installed between the vehicle CAN bus and device, the unit is placed in Learning mode, and then the vehicle can be driven normally for a pre-defined time. The CANFence unit generates and uploads a report file from the data it has collected. OttoFence's server then processes the file and automatically generates an initial rule set. Afterwards, the rule set is validated and stored in an OttoFence database, to be used with similar installation types in the future.
