Microalgae Cultivation
Nature Beta Technologies (NBT) cultivates Dunaliella bardawil microalgae, a source of beta carotene that contains 50% of the 9-cis isomer which occurs only in natural form. The microalgae is also rich in other carotenoids, such as phytoene, lutein, and lycopene, as well as other phytochemicals and micronutrients. NBT is a subsidiary of the Nikken Sohonsha Corporation in Japan and the partner of D-factory, a consortium funded by the European Commission with the goal of setting a world benchmark for a sustainable CO2 algae biorefinery based on Dunaliella biomass.
