Walking Improvement for Degenerative Diseases
MediGait offers the GaitAid, a device designed to be worn by patients with Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis to help improve walking ability. The device consists of display glasses with connected earphones that pair with a lightweight control unit that clips onto the belt. The GaitAid projects a black-and-white tiled floor onto the wearer's field of vision. As the wearer walks, the display responds visually and with audible feedback. With use over time, the device can help improve the wearer's stride. Users can also follow the program without using the glasses, taking only audible cues from the headphones. Use of the GaitAid typically entails 20-to-30-minute sessions.
