Mastercard Incorporated is a financial services corporation. Its principal business is to process payments between the banks of merchants and the card-issuing banks or credit unions of the purchasers who use the "Mastercard" brand debit, credit and prepaid cards to make purchases.
In 2020, Mastercard acquired Cytegic, an Israeli-based startup that develops cyber-risk management solutions. The local team in Israel continues to develop the product under Mastercard's Data and Services division. In 2021, Mastercard also acquired Dynamic Yield from McDonald's Corporation and integrated it into its R&D Center. Additionally, Mastercard and Enel X established a fintech-cybersecurity laboratory in Be'er Sheva
