About

Automatic Suturing Device for Prostate Anastomosis

Keren Medical has developed a surgical instrument that allows surgeons to easily and accurately complete anastomosis between the bladder and urethra following radical prostatectomy performed via robotic surgery, laparoscopy surgery, or open surgery. Keren Medicals technology is a disposable device designed for rapid, two-step anastomosis between the bladder neck and the urethral stump following radical prostatectomy. With dimensions similar to a Foley catheter, the device automatically installs and fixates a number of absorbable sutures between the urethral stump and the bladder neck so that the surgeon will not need to perform complex needle operations or suture winding, particularly when total prostatectomy is performed in a robotic surgery. The procedure is designed to be safe, fast, and precise, allowing for early recovery of postoperative continence. The technology is even more beneficial when applied in robotic surgery associated with complex and lengthy anastomosis.
