About

IonMed is bringing a plasma-based technology to advanced clinical stages with its BioWeld1 proprietary technology. BioWeld1 is a cold plasma device, complete with dedicated disposable tips and a biological film, that is ideally suited for wound and surgical incision closure and skin-graft fixation, with additional clinical applications in development. Once the graft is placed on the grafting site, Chitoplast strips are applied along the graft edges and adjacent tissue. Alternatively, the Chitoplast can be applied along the incision edges. Cold plasma is then applied along the Chitoplast strips, which cover the graft edges, causing hemostasis and further adherence of the Chitoplast, leading to a closer approximation of the incision or skin-graft edges. The combined actions of the plaster and plasma provide the basis for the subsequent natural healing process. IonMed's BioWeld1 is CE cleared for surgical incision closure, and the company is certified to the ISO13845 standard. The system's CE clearance for skin graft fixation application is pending.
