Ekidens is a smartphone app that turns running into a fun social experience. Even with the successful trend of running-related apps, and the social layer dominating all kinds of consumer tech, running remains a solitary sport. Using the GPS, Ekidens allows users to engage in real-time running events and game-like jogging activities with friends and thousands of runners around the globe. The app user-experience employs gamification and social tools that imitate the thrill in participating in a real-life marathon. Using the app, users get the extra motivation and the social experience they need to have fun during their running routines - kicking the virtual track. Our social running includes up-to-date audio announcements and statistics about the user and his friends progress. Did any of them just break the speed-of-light? Are they running virtually at the same pace together? Now users can get encouraged by friends and fellow runners who are participating in the race.
