Solar Energy-based Irrigation Systems
AgroSolar is developing a solar irrigation system for use in areas not connected to the electrical grid. Its initial target market includes small-scale farmers cultivating one to two hectares in India and other developing countries. AgroSolars solution is a piston-based solar-powered water-pumping system. The pump and other elements, such as a dedicated inverter/controller, are designed to optimally supply varying solar energy to the pump. The technology can be combined with drip irrigation or other microirrigation systems to allow grid-independent pumping, irrigation, and fertilization for improved yields.
