About

Optical Black Coatings for Light Suppression

Acktar develops and produces coatings for light absorption, super black materials, and blackening for opto-mechanical components. Its technology can be used for light-trapping applications in lens housings, light baffles, IR sensors, and UV sensors. The companys proprietary coatings are based on vacuum deposition technologies. They are ecologically clean, and in many cases can be used to replace traditional processes that may be sources of pollutants and toxic substances. Acktar provides VIS, SWIR, and MWIR high-absorbing coatings for stray light suppression, and the company is a supplier for many ESA and NASA projects. Acktar has subsidiaries in the USA, Germany, and Japan.
