Robotics for Plant Grafting
Virentes is developing a high-throughput robot and multi-rootstock grafting technology to replace the current method of grafting, which is primarily manual and carried out one plant at a time. Virentes robot grafts plants using specially designed grafting arms while automatically performing all accompanying activities, including trimming, clearing, and disinfecting. The technology is designed for ease of use and low maintenance, and will replace hundreds of laborers, reducing current grafting costs by approximately 30%.
